Smile And Be A More Friendly Malaysian
Travellling long distances is usually quite dreadful for our family. My three active and inquisitive children will easily get restless and grumpy. They will go in perfect synchronisation "Are we there yet?""How much further?" "When is the next stop?" Repeated so many times until my husband and i get very agitated. But this time around, something happened. During our recent trip to Taman Negara, my younger children Jonathan (12) and Jessica (10) were up to their mischief again. With pens and papers they started to scribble and draw. After which they started to stick these papers onto the car windows. "SMILE" " BE HAPPY " " CAN YOU LAUGH LIKE THIS? " and etc.....Words and sketches the best they could do in a moving car, were their creations. They were trying so hard to get the attention of the drivers and passengers in the cars that passed or were beside us. Many passed without noticing them let alone responding. Poor darlings. But they never gave up. I asked them why they were trying so hard. My Jessica replied " Just to make more Malaysians more friendly !! " How meaningful ! Just then, a GENTLEMAN in a navy blue BMW drove up to our car, wound down his car window and gave my children the biggest and cheekiest smile. Wow ! My children were ecstatic ! Later, a LADY with her young girl passed us and gave us the THUMBS UP sign, we thumbed back with our happy smiles.Even though my children did not get many responses, these simple gestures really made our day. To the LADY and GENTLEMAN thank you for being so friendly. Hopefully there are more friendly people like you ! Our family's long journeys are more pleasant and happy now. Come on Malaysians, SMILE , BE HAPPY AND MAKE OTHERS HAPPY TOO !!
